Mujeres Queson Infieles

astronomer Profession: stories of women scientists

Each section of the exhibition opens with a video interview with people whose ideas have revolutionized-marked-influenced throughout history. All these characters (from Aristotle to the Jedi knight, through Newton, Hubble and Bell) are facing the same questions on the conception of the universe, and it is interesting to hear and understand the answers to these questions have changed over the centuries.

Among these players there is just too Jocelyn Bell, who discovered the first pulsar astrophysics, and yet he did not see such an important scientific contribution recognized with the Nobel Prize, awarded instead to his teacher.
addition to the pulsar, this interview is therefore useful to discuss the difficulties, this unfortunately also in the scientific community to achieve full equality of opportunity between men and women.

Here is a blog that is a good idea to "enter" in the world of many astronomers, thanks to their own stories of life experiences and work collected during the International Year of Astronomy:

How Much Is A Shiny Charizard Worth

As Matthew pointed out in previous posts, today all ' LHC has taken up a stone to important developments in physics in the coming years. It was 13:06
in Geneva when the two beams collided at high energy and huge detectors heard the faint signals originated from the myriad of particles resulting from the collision.

At the same moment, another much smaller detector and raw commenced operations also showing traces of ephemeral particles well beyond the human senses. Absolutely
by-case basis in fact, during my lunch break, I helped Francis to test our new cloud chamber that will soon be exhibited to show the public the cosmic rays

:-) I would say that it works very well, every second showing numerous contrails very mixed, with many soft and straight, others with sudden detours, others very clear ee large. a real show!

I intend soon to post a short video. For now, only a frame a bit 'confused;)

How Did You Defet The Dragon In Poptropica

particle detectors at CERN in Geneva, a stone's throw from Big Bang

process almost recreated in the laboratory

The largest particle accelerator world Cern in Geneva has reached the maximum almost never touched able to collide two beams of protons to create conditions similar to those of Big Bang which gave birth to the universe. The Large Hadron Collider , which runs for 27 km under the border between Switzerland and France, has generated seven trillion of elettrovolt. The LHC, which opened in 2008, he was stopped for 48 hours after a fault.

And so, after two failures that occurred in the early hours of the day, the protons at the time of the clash have traveled at a speed close to that of light. Now researchers, who will analyze the data collected, turn off the LHC to switch back on after maintenance work and expansion that will last almost a year. At that point the power will be doubled to 14 TeV, a level that comes close to those more experienced in the first instants of the Universe.

The Large Hadron Collider is the largest particle accelerator ever built and has so far had a rather unfortunate. Opened September 10, 2008, just 36 hours after it was shut down for failure due to a faulty electrical connection between two of the superconducting magnets of the machine. In the subsequent repair work has been accommodated another 53 defective magnets.

With the LHC scientists (among whom there are many Italians that the latter rappsentano lenders and the second scientific community at CERN) have the objective of verifying the existence of smaller particles and elusive, like the famous Higgs boson , dubbed the "God particle", and understand the nature of matter and of 'energy "dark" that are respectively 23% and 72% of the universe. The visible matter and energy account for only 5% of the total universe.

What Is The Funniest Breed Of Dog

What you can do and see in

Meanwhile, you'll notice that several days have passed since the last post than usual. An important thing for a blog would maintain a steady pace of publication but do what you can! :)

In this post I will make a brief guide for visitors to the exhibition can .

The offer that is proposed is mainly of three types:

* The free visit. Visitors can roam freely and visit the exhibition on their own.
will help in understanding through explanatory panels but mainly due to the presence of at least one operator helper available to any help and explanation if it were needed.
The museum is always open for free tours from 10 to 18, daily except Mondays. Thursday is open until 22.

* The tour . Takes about 1h 30min. A guide will lead you along with 15-20 other people along the route of the exhibition explaining it in detail.
Regarding timetables, guided tours take place only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Typically, the Saturday afternoon to do two tours: one starting from 15:15, the other 16:15. On Sunday morning a visit to 11:15 in the afternoon three visits: at 15:15, 15:45, 16:15. The visits of 15:15 and 16:15 are designed for an audience smaller, typically between 8 and 14 years.
Under the 8 years that we can not visit, in fact, only 1h 30min start to be little and not all of the concepts of the exhibition can be useful.
Another important thing is that during the tour you can not see everything that is in the show for obvious reasons of time. What will follow is a path that follows the logical thread of the main exhibition. If something that interests you will be missed at the end of visit you can safely go back and get help from a helper always present in the salt.

* The planetarium. For the uninitiated the planetarium is a domed structure made in the courtyard of the museum. Inside, you can enter only with the guide and visit the planetarium lasts about an hour . Inside are arranged in a circle of chairs where you sit and there is the simulation of the starry sky, typically seen in the evening sky at this time. The operator will assist you in the constellations, stars, planets and understand any major movements of celestial bodies.
On Saturday there will be two visits to the planetarium: at 15 and 16:45. On Sundays you add a visit to 11. The visit of 16:45 is designed for a smaller audience .. say from 4 to 7 years. Of course it is only a suggestion, not that it is prohibited to adults, only you look at the sky through different eyes.

As for the guided tours of those shows that the number is limited to the planetarium I invite you to book with a little 'in advance .. in most is usually sufficient for half an hour before.

Ah, the times given guided tours are valid only approximately. Given the highly variable number of visitors could be changed to 15-30 min. If you need to know with precision, check out the official website www.mtsn.tn.it .

My advice is to come and visit the exhibition on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. This is because on Sunday afternoon is always full:) Of course we're happy with the success of the show but if you come at times of lower flow better enjoy it too. If you have the opportunity
also invite you to take advantage of the Thursday night , where I remind you, the exhibition is open for free visits to the 22 and there are always two operators that will help you in fuizione and why not do some quick chat and exchange of views astronomical theme.

Speech are different schools or organized groups . In this case the best thing is to contact the teaching section for custom packages.

Star Wars Television Dvd Combi

We can show movies? Astro

wonder if you can picture is quite common but a few days ago I asked a class if they can sign up during the whole hour and a half of the tour. Well I must say that it was the first time I Captain! :)
By the way, but the novel shows half cameraman got sick of hand-held camera and then the memory (and notes) if it only takes the first three quarters of an hour.

More generally, an interesting starting point to reflect on old and new approaches to consider the intellectual property rights of reproduction and the rest.
It must be said that in recent years, the philosophy began to emerge from the open source software to extend a bit 'all over the world in a thousand shades.
is rarely expressed explicitly the license, which would be very important to avoid misunderstandings and conditions, but there increasingly acquiescence in allowing the enjoyment and use of content created by others.
as I know the show Space! has not adopted a specific license, maybe kind of Creative Commons (would be a great idea), but certainly there is no problem in taking pictures or making movies.
Indeed, I believe that the publication of online content about the show created by users can be a tremendous advertising channel unconventional!
So, dear aspiring cameraman, if you read me please feel free to post your video on youtube:)

How Do You Do A Plat In The Front Of Your Hair

App - Part Two

One of the three software that we use in the digital planetarium is the approved Stellarium, a Free program, in Italian, easy to use even for those who understand something of astronomy.
Indeed this could be an incentive to get closer to the future astronomer, beginning later this fascinating subject to watch live the stars, constellations, planets, etc ...
Through this program you can watch the night sky over your head, or finally give a name to the star (or planet) that you see every night outside the window of the house before going to sleep, take a look at what they see or understand the Australian that the sky is very different from summer to winter.
If you still have any doubts you can always come to the planetarium the weekend and contact us with questions, we will be happy to respond and resolve your doubts.
We look forward this summer to the Terrace of the Stars (Viote - Monte Bondone) by observing live and through telescopes to see deep sky objects ...
Bye!

look at the space station!

As mentioned a few days ago, this week the International Space Station carries out several steps very clearly visible to the naked eye.
Today, Friday, March 5 , there will be a particularly beautiful passage, and also the weather seems favorable.
Then do this challenge? You can also try to observe and report your observations here! Below some

Ice Planet On Poptropica

Cosmonautilus

Yesterday while I was in Matthew's lap in the show, I came up with this name for the planet. That does not mean, Stella, but it's a word game fiko for several reasons. The idea is to baptize the planet not as a "door", but as a "ship" star, with a reference to Verne, among other writer who has also occupied space in "Around the Moon."

ship to travel through the cosmos, Cosmonautilus .
Do you like it?

veh ... just an idea!
